this map is actually very easy if you just unequip alondite. the ai in radiant dawn hates being counterattacked more than almost anything else, so if you just have bk put away his sword, all the ranged enemies will ignore micaiah in favour of attacking him.

the value of legendary weapons kinda just boils down to their value as one-use nukes. They deal a lot of damage and then just shut your character down completely for the most part or leave them extremely vulnerable. This means their primary usecase is literally just, hit the final boss with them *once*

Well that was a nice run. Glad that it's over though, Micaiah stepping on a lego and dying was bound to happen at some point.

This is the chapter where Micky would benefit from resolve. As for surving a hand axe, steel bow or javelin she needs enough HP and defense to survive an up to 27 attack, so this is the luckbased part without "wasting" angelic robe or draco shield.

During my ironmans of this game, I always say fuck this map in particular and ignore the rules because it is not even a map, it is a puzzle.

You weren’t kidding when you said you’d be using absolutely disgusting, degenerate tactics here. I mean Jesus level 20 Titania on ch 3? Disgusting.

Fun Fact! The game doesn't explain it very well, but the Black Knight is _not_ literally invincible ever since an entire castle landed on his face. He just has such absurdly high DEF for this point in the game that the difference is largely academic.

People rag on Micaiah for this map but really, I doubt _any_ lord or other unit will do well in this sort of situation, where enemies have the potential to ORKO or OHKO you and you have to trial and error your way through.

"Puzzle" is a BIG stretch here

My first two FE games were 3 Houses and Echoes. Now playing through PoR and RD, I really struggled to remember the weapon triangle. Then I watched this video. Swords beat axes because your lord beats brigands in the early game. Lances beat swords because you are too weak to defeat a formal army without recruiting more people. Thank you Excelblem, I finally can remember the weapon triangle thanks to this video. (This is 100% unironic)

You know the writing is good when in order for the map to happen the main character has to make the stupidest possible decision and then is saved by some guy teleporting in out of nowhere. The fire emblem writers are true masters of their craft.

the black knight crit animation where he knocks the enemy onto their back might be my favorite crit in the series. The opponent gets flipped like a pancake its awesome.

I swear, playing this game bck then was hard when it comes to playing as Micaiah. I remember I had the same issue of her spd & hp being too mid to the point she can be one shotted by late game unit or cant attack twice during end game. Even though she was at MAX level 😅

And this is why Micaiah is the worst Lord-type character in the whole series.
